Other stuff

WOW - I'm actually going to post twice in one day. Now that JSB is over, I have more time on my hands! But don't expect this blogging spree to last - our final five weeks go quickly and we still have lots to do :) Anyway, here are some pictures that should have been posted a while ago.

Four of our juniors dedicated hours to making Treebeard, the Ent from the forest of Fanghorn, for one of our photo ops at JSB. Late nights, bags of flour and hundreds of newspapers went into this fellow. He is now resting in the crawlspace underneath our dorm.

Others painted these cut-outs that were a big hit.The girls and I spent hours working on the program, MC scripts and seating arrangements.
The seniors surprised us on our final work day with ice cream floats! What a blessing that was on a hot day.

We woke up early on Saturday, April 18, because the power had gone off and we had no air con or fans. I heard noise outside and opened the doors to smoke and the smell of plastic burning. The fifth grade classrooms next door were on fire and the Bomba (fire dept) was here doing their job.

They contained the fire and put it out quickly but the water and smoke damaged almost everything in both classrooms. Thankfully, the fire didn't spread to the adjoining counseling centre. Our little David helped by cleaning the sticky goo off his desk. A bunch of others showed up to clean up, haul stuff, provide water for workers and encouragement to the fifth grade teachers.
One of the many melted desks.

Santi turned 16 and we celebrated with friends and a cheesecake.

We held two nights of science fair this year to alleviate the huge crowd in the chapel. This is the high school evening and Alan with his experiment.

The mad scientists, Golnaz and Aunt Lana!

Nathan put together an underwater city and used LEGO and styrofam to build it.

Our director looking very sauve in the recommended protective eyewear.

Annie at her city display with Sabrina.

Santi and his friends did an experiment with an oyster and bought one from a local restaurant.
