It's been awhile

WOW - I haven't posted in a long time. Sorry but things have been a bit wild here. I was sick last week, completely down for three days and still not well even when I did get moving. I have now passed this lovely flu bug onto Tim and Annie.

Christmas banquet is a Sadie Hawkins affair here and the girls can't start asking until given the green light by the Student Council. So, at exactly one minute past midnight on Wednesday night (or Thursday morning), the girls could officially ask. Now the whole 'ask' must be done in a creative fashion. Annie, who gets to attend CB for the first time as a freshman, made a huge cookie and had a friend write the question in Korean since she was asking her Korean friend, Joseph. Alas, another girl got to Joseph first so we ate the cookie! Annie has decided to go with a group of girlfriends instead of asking anyone else. Kaleb was asked by his good friend Bethany through a series of clues he had to follow. Santi was awoken at 7 a.m. Thursday morning with balloons and chocolates when Angie came to ask him. Abbie and her friend Diana had Uncle Brian, a former policeman, handcuff George and Alan. It really is quite a frenzy around here for the first couple of days until all the excitement wears off.

The cookie Annie made.

Alan and George trying to get the handcuffs off!Santi proudly wearing his sign to indicate 'he was taken'!

We also had a busy weekend with junior class sales for a British school's basketball tournament. They rented our gym and outdoor covered court for under 13 tournament and it was great to have some new people to sell our items to.

Sunday was an interesting day. We had a computer 'fast' meaning no computers could be turned on so all homework had to be finished on Saturday. We told the kids, who were a bit panicked by the thought of no computer time, that we would plan some activities to help pass the time. So after our quiet hours (1-3 pm the kids must be in their rooms), I took them on a walk up a paved path into the mountains out in Batu. It was lovely and lots of fun. Then we went swimming after supper and did crafts together later. All in all, most kids thought it was a special day and would do it again sometime....although not too soon!!

Today is our day off and we went shopping for a birthday gift for Annie and for Christmas gifts for all the kids. The nearby mall opened their new addition so Tim and I enjoyed walking around looking at all the new, expensive stores. Tonight we went out for supper with a young couple doing an internship from Ambrose College (Calgary) in Indonesia. They were on a visa run to KL and decided to come up and see the school. Once we got talking, we realized we knew a bunch of people in common - the world is really so small.
