Valentine's Day

Its been a busy day so far. We began by serving all the students breakfast in bed for Valentine's Day - chocolate chip pancakes, strawberries dipped in chocolate plus juice and syrup. It was fun doing up all the trays with fancy napkins and my good dishes. Kids were surprised and delighted! Then off I went with the four senior girls to do the elementary chapel. We talked about....love, of course!! The girls did a skit based on the book Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink, I read the book No Matter What about a parent's love towards a child and we finished with an interactive story about God's love for all the "fish in the ocean" like sharks, dolphins, seahorses and blowfish. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely do it again sometime. Then we raced home to start our CPR and first aid training being held in our dorm over the next three Thursdays. Now Tim is heading out to the lumber yard to get wood for IKEA shelving brackets we bought.

Many students arrived at their lockers this morning to find "Special Things for Special People" notes and treats. Its a fundraising initiative by the Student Council and goes over huge! Annie and Naomi created homemade Valentine cards for their friends that also went in the lockers. Later today, Kaleb's junior class will be performing singing telegrams around campus and are babysitting tonight so couples can go out for supper.

This is part of the Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink skit where the girls received Valentines that had hurtful comments on them which damaged their hearts.
Listen, tilt, pinch, breathe......
Those of us using the full mannequin were given our own 'faces' to take on and off each time we practiced.

I have a question for you... do those very small children in the front row of your picture live away from their parents? I'm just curious.

hey tara,
no, actually the youngest in boarding this year is a 12 year old African boy in our dorm. it used to be that all international workers sent their kids to boarding school in grade 1 but there are too many other options these days for that. most boarding students here are in high school. dalat has opened its doors to the international business community so we have about 320 days students and only 70 in boarding. hope things in tisdale are going well and that you are able to stay warm!
