Cheese ball and crackers for dorm treat, courtesy of Naomi's mom who hauled cream cheese from Cambodia for us!! First aid training - using a pen and electrical tape, Brian made a unique splint for Tim's finger. Nathan turned 14 this week and requested a delicious ice cream cake that melted VERY fast in the heat! We were asked to help feed 1000 poor people who live in a particular section of Penang. These are a few of the chairs and tables before they are filled. Seven churches plus our dorm came together to fill plates and pass out drinks and dessert. The men are grilling chicken satay - so yummy with peanut sauce! The kids patiently waited for their big moment to assist. Lots of hands make light work, so the adage goes and it's true. With all the help, over 1000 meals were served and the whole place was cleaned up by 9:30 p.m.

How good of you to teach your kids the value of service to others. Was your church one of the seven churches involved?
I'm living a dream on the beach in SE Asia with my best friend, a guy named Tim who I've been married to for 22 years, and our two awesome teenagers. We are dorm parents to 9 other students, better known as Third Culture Kids, who hail from America, Canada, Cambodia, Thailand, England and Australia. We love it here - the sticky humidity, barking geckos, fresh fruit, naan bread, amazing people and breathtaking scenery.
