Dorm retreat

From Friday at noon til last night at 10:30 pm, we packed a lot in to our dorm retreat: four sessions with James, our guest speaker from Chicago, swimming, games, eating, praying, sleeping (some more than others!), singing, laughing, joking, creating, celebrating, encouraging and so much more. The hotel was awesome for our purposes and the pool was the hub of activity during free time. Our last session with James was all about Ephesians 4:29 - "do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only that which is good for building up....." so we spent time writing notes of encouragement to each other and encouraging our Residence Life Supervisors, Brian and Val, for their tireless work and full devotion to our staff and students. It was an excellent way to end our time together. The only downside to the whole event was that two vans broke down on the way home, meaning we had to pack extra kids into the other vans, so we hauled 18 people instead of the usual 15. We stopped at Queensbay Mall for supper and some Christmas shopping. Today we surprised our students by not going to church but letting them sleep in and spend time sharing what what we had learned.

The whole crew of students.

The line up at the ping pong table was never short!

In twelve groups, we worked on creating a wall mural by pasting small colored pieces of paper onto the larger template. Isn't it beautiful? The pool was a great place on a sunny, warm afternoon.
Father and son squash game.
Hanging out with Uncle Tim playing games.

Just how many teenagers and their paraphenalia can you fit into a Toyota van???
