Tuesday thread

* Its our day off today. I got up and cooked sausages and eggs for breakfast for Kaleb and Annie instead of having them eat cold cereal. When they left for school, I got ready to go up Pearl Hill but the rains came the moment we went to walk out the door. And its continued all day so no exercise today!!
* We had our first softball practice yesterday. I'm quite pleased with a couple of our pitchers, who have no previous experience, just natural athletic talent. We hope they will have learned enough skills to have a scrimmage next week. The only other softball team we know of to play against is the Japanese girls' team.
* Tim and I made our way over to the mainland yesterday to find the Canadian consulate office. The embassy is in Kuala Lumpur but they maintain an office here for those Canadians in the area. Without streets signs and with an inaccurate map, we managed to find our way after several wrong turns. The fellow signed all three guarantor forms although he felt Kaleb's application could be in jeopardy because we should have brought him to sign in person. The secretray failed to mention that on the phone however. So, guess what? The consul is on his way here today because he found out from the embassy that Kaleb's application would be denied. I guess he felt that since his office had wrongly informed us of the procedure, the least he could do was come our way this time to correct the paperwork. Oh he just arrived......
* OK, that's finished. Kaleb signed the documents in front of him, he put the official seal on it and we're good to go! The Canadian gov't guarantees 14 days for passport renewal so we can breathe easy about our trip to Kota Kinabalu in November.
* Kaleb continues to learn Korean and wants to buy a book entitled "Korean in a Hurry" to learn more phrases :)
* Went to a yard sale on Sunday - a family went back to the States for vacation in June and decided to stay. The father is here to pack up the belongings althoug his daughters and wife have spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with him giving instructions!! I got some great buys - books, carpet, body wash, perfume, mattress covers and more. And Tim got a much needed and very expensive transformer to hook up our American game system so the long, orange extension cord no longer crawls across the floor - yippee!
*We're heading out for supper so will sign off for now.

We're so glad to know everything is taken care of legally. And glad to know you didn't get toooo lost! Is the family staying in the US the one I know and whose girls I had a few years ago? Just wondering.

Yep, its the same family. They may come back next August. They are homeschooling their last of 8 kids so she can travel the world with them this year. I'm sure they'll stop in here sometime for a visit.
