Several people have asked what our schedule looks like. While things can change in an instant on any given day, here is basically what a "normal" week is like:
MONDAY
6:30 am - up to get breakfast ready
7:30-8 am - breakfast is served
8 am - prayer in the lounge
8:20 am - school starts
8:20 am-3:35 pm - what is known as free time for us. However, during this time we buy dorm groceries, bake cookies and other things for snacks, do room check, respond to lots of emails, plan for Sunday devotions and activities for long weekends, run errands for the dorm to the bank, pharmacy, hardware store, have meetings with teachers, photocopy, etc....plus try to rest or take a short nap if possible
3:35 pm - snack is served outside on porch
3:45-5:40 pm - free time for kids which can include band, soccer, vocal ensemble or drama practice, assisting with after school elementary clubs, doing homework, involvement in junior class candy sales, going off campus for shopping or to the 7-11, TV or just hanging out
5:40-6:15 pm - dinner in the cafeteria
6:15-7:30 pm - free time again but this usually means starting to get homework done, no TV during this time
7:30-9 pm - mandatory study hall in school's computer lab, library or study room in dorm
9 pm - curfew and snack in the dorm and air conditioners turned on in the bedrooms
10 pm - bedtime and prayer except for our seniors who enjoy the privilege of going to bed when they want to. So far, its usually by 11 pm.
TUESDAY
Our day off so our dorm assistant, Julia, comes in early to do breakfast - we usually leave cereal and milk for her to serve on these days. She's on until 10:30 pm. We don't see much of the dorm kids on our day off since we close the door between our apartment and the dorm. When Kaleb and Annie get their homework done, we head to the Tuesday night market down the street for Chinese pancakes and some cheap shopping.
WEDNESDAY
Same schedule as Monday except that at we serve a special and more expensive dorm treat at 9 pm. The kids love the dorm treat and ask days in advance what we are going to have. So far, we have had mac & cheese with chicken nuggets, orange and chocolate trifle, spicy chicken wings and mississippi mud bars. This week is pie and next week is baked potatoes with real bacon bits!! We also have our dorm meeting then to iron out any problems (such as leaving messes in the kitchen, coming in late to curfew, etc).
THURSDAY
Same schedule as Monday except we have a meeting from 1-2 pm and Tim is in charge of the evening library study hall.
FRIDAY
Same schedule as Monday except we have the dorm staff meeting from 8:30 am-12 noon and the dinner is served outside at picnic tables.
11 pm - curfew
SATURDAY
8:30-10:30 am - breakfast which is usually coffee cake or muffins or something easy that the kids serve themselves.
10 am - air conditioners are turned off so most kids usually start to get up after that although we have two or three early risers. On Saturdays, kids in grades 8 and up can go off campus in groups of three or more so a lot head out to eat and shop. Some do homework.
12 noon- lunch in cafeteria
5:40 pm - dinner in cafeteria
10 pm - curfew
10:30 pm - bedtime
SUNDAY
8 am - breakfast in cafeteria
8:45 am - leave for church
9 - 11 am- church at Georgetown Baptist
12 noon - lunch in cafeteria
1-3 pm - quiet time in dorm where kids have to be in their rooms. We turn the air conditioning on for them during this time.
5:40 pm - dinner in cafeteria
8 pm - curfew
8:30 pm - dorm devotions and snack
10 pm - bedtime

Okay, you're keeping busy! We don't want you to get bored, you know! Actually, it's a very interesting schedule and being so far away, it's good for us to know something of what you're doing and when.
Thank you - this was very interesting!
