Today I drove!!! It was great - I enjoyed weaving around in traffic although I must admit the traffic wasn't that heavy. The lane lines are just a suggestion and if there's a space between two vehicles, someone will zip in to fill it. Side mirrors are an absolute must here because you have to watch for the motorcycle traffic coming up on each side. The only mistake I made was to go in the exit at the mall (which is on the right) instead of through the entrance. Thankfully nobody was behind me. It gave me a real sense of freedom to get in the van and go. Nellie came with to navigate.
Today was also laundry and cleaning day. My laundry is outside on the back porch. The washer is newer but smaller capacity. The dryer is on its last legs so most stuff goes on the line. We'll see what happens in the wet season when things don't dry so well.
We also hung pictures all around and got Kaleb's room finished by hanging curtains and putting up a mirror (picture above). Annie still needs tab top curtains for her window and a few posters to go up so no picture yet.
Annie's pen pal, Khalie, who is actually from Portage la Prairie, MB, arrived back today after summer holidays. They finally met after 18 months of writing letters. So needless to say, they have gone to the movies tonight to celebrate! Tim, Kaleb and I will head to the Tuesday night market for satay and some fresh fruit.
All of the returning staff are back so we are meeting people like crazy and watching lots of hugging going on. So far we have three Tim's on campus - two are dorm dads so we'll have to come up with something other than "Uncle Tim" or we might confuse the kids!
