At Gurney Mall yesterday, I found a section of Christian books in a bookstore with Muslim employees! I bought Seizing Your Divine Moment by Erwin Raphael McManus. It reminds me a lot of Wild At Heart by John Eldredge and has been a good read so far.
Here are a couple of thoughts from it:
The mystery of a moment is that it is small enough to ignore and big enough tochange your life forever. Life is the sum total of what you do with the moments given you.
Many of us face a new poverty. We are not living on the streets but we are stuck in a rut. We are in danger of gaining the whole world and losing our souls. What we have received from God has taken preeminence over the God who has received us.
We must move beyond simply choosing between right and wrong. We must resolve not only to leave the path of doing evil, but also to passionately pursue a life of doing good. The danger is getting stuck in between the two, living your life in the neutral zone. No real evil to speak about, but no great good to be proud of either. At worst a passive life is only to be pitied, but God counts it as a tragedy when we choose to simply watch life rather than live it.
