Fun first week

We've been busy since we hit Malaysian soil over a week ago. Staff conference, helping Lana navigate driving (she did fine by the way), getting groceries, going out to eat, getting pedicures and haircuts, cleaning the dorm, painting shelves, rearranging furniture....the list goes on. But its all been good and we are thrilled to open our dorm doors later this afternoon for the rush of students. We will have at least 7 sleeping here tonight if not all 11. And I know I said that we would have a lot more boys than girls but as things turned out, we will have 7 girls and 6 boys again this year. Sophie, Sabrina, Mary, Cassandra and Renata are the new girls joining Abbie who is returning. Yan Rong is our only new boy who joins Alan, Laurian, Nathan and Santi, who is now the veteran of Chandler having lived here 3 years. So here's to another great year of God's blessings together in Chandler Dorm!

Some pictures of this week's fun.....
Our first ever freezie making extravaganza (I could say fiasco) with some of the junior class.....
The first Kool-aid freezie mixed, poured and sealed!
And the second!
And #3-400!! Quite an accomplishment although we were all stuck to the floor by the end of two hours. These freezies sell like crazy on a hot day after school.
What could we do on our last day to sleep in? Get up at 4:30 am to hand out drinks at the 10km mark of a 26 km race. The first runner came by 39 minutes into the race and the last one at the 1 hour and 45 minutes mark. Then we went home to bed!
Vi and Lana, quite by accident, were fully clothed in brown for our IKEA road trip.
Nellie and I, also by accident, were both in blue!
One of the highway rest stops has a rock path that you are to walk 'for your health'. It kills the feet - notice Lana jumping off the path into the moss??? I guess we are North American wimps because the elderly Asian ladies ahead of us walked it with no problem and then told us as we limped along, oohing and ouching all the way, that we weren't very healthy!!

Annie singlehandedly (well, almost....) put together our new dresser from IKEA. Its great to have one handy woman in the family! Obviously takes after her dad.

Good for you guys to jump right back into the swing of things. Sounds like it is going to be another fun-filled, exciting year at Chandler. We're looking forward to following the escapades again this year.
