Gong Xi Fa Chai

....means blessing of prosperity or may your wealth enlarge or just generally happy new year! So on this Chinese New Year, we wish you the timeless and intangible blessings of love and peace and God's favour.
We've had a blast this long weekend with our crew - here are some pics of the fun:

The dorm staff minus one at the annual Valentine's banquet we plan for the kids.
I was in charge of entertainment, Tim was on the food committee.

Tim is cozying up here with Nellie!Me and the beautiful ladies of Chandler!
The Archer family, February 2008
What do you get when you put one Canadian girl plus one Swiss Italian girl plus one American girl in a room together for a year? Way, way too many clothes!!!!

We gave the kids copies of the Love chapter from 1 Corinthians 13 and had them translate and read in any language other than English. Laura is reading in Thai - we also had Hindi, German, Swiss Italian, Khmer, Vietnamese, Lao, Cantonese, Afrikans, Japanese, Bahasa Malay, Korean and Swahili!! Talk about a melting pot of cultures :)

We also gave the kids 'fill in the blank' rap songs so Naomi and Kaleb wrote this about me:

Oh Aunt Shauna, your voice is sweeter than Obama
And take it from me, you're smoother than a llama
Your strength! Oh, its greater than Osama
You're legend to me - you're big than Big Mama

Abbie wrote a lovely rap song about her favourite dorm bro, Laurian, who, even under his dark African skin, can be seen blushing!!

Some of us also enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool in the heat of the afternoon.

great post Shauna - What an odd shaped Pool! Is it deep at one end and shallow at the other? Thanks for sharing your life on your blog! It makes it easier to pray and celebrate with you! Happy CHinese New Year! :) Lana
