Christmas party

We had a bundle of fun last night at our Christmas party. Supper was ten pizzas delivered by Dominoes, eaten by the light of the Christmas tree lights we had strung up around the kitchen. Everybody opened their stockings together since they all got somewhat similar gifts - things like T-shirts, bookmarks, pens, snowglobes, necklaces, McDonald's gift vouchers and chocolates. We played some games to prolong the agony of those who wanted to rip into their presents - how very cruel of us (he he he!!). We also did Secret Santa gifts between students and it was fun to see what creative things they bought for each other.
Before giving each person their big gift, Tim and I spoke words of affirmation, praising the outstanding qualities we have noticed in each person. Amazingly enough, we managed to buy gifts specific to each person's tastes and everyone was very pleased with what they received. All our high school students got clothes, which was a bit tricky when buying since you can't return anything here. I was constantly on my handphone calling back to the dorm to have Tim check in someone's closet for their size. But, in the end, we did OK, even on the pair of shorts we bought for Eric which he donned immediately!! Daniel, our grade six boy, received a remote control car, which was the big hit of the night with all the guys wanting to try it out.
Dessert was a great array of goodies baked by all the dorm moms and hot chocolate which I found in the grocery store last week. We finished off playing Twister and watching the old version of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
