The apartment

Last Thursday night, after Kaleb had finished his load of homework, we went to one of the YWAM houses here in Penang. YWAM has 14 houses here on the island for use in training their staff. We stayed in a very spacious and clean house, spartan in terms of furniture but very nice bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom. The taxi arrived early the next morning to take us to the ferry.

Now, the ferry ride to Langkawi was not so great. The engine noise in the seating compartment we were in was so loud we could barely talk and we definitely couldn't hear the audio on the movie they were playing. So we went and stood on the outside deck up top, enjoying the sunshine and the view of the Adaman Sea. I discovered its possible to fall asleep, standing up while holding onto a post, with the equatorial sun baking down on me. That was awesome.

The pastor who manages the apartment picked us up in Langkawi. The apartment was on the third floor of a gated community and, mildewy smell aside, was a great place to crash for four days. (Mildew smell is quite commonplace here with all the humidity so we're becoming used to it.) The apartment had one master bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite and another smaller bedroom with a bunks and a single bed. It also contained another bathroom, storage room, kitchen and living area and a balcony with a great view. The best feature of the whole place was the impeccably clean pool which we used everyday. The second best feature was the small car for our use to tour around the island on our own.

Here's the pool. Our apartment was on the top floor to the right in the picture.

The view of the pool and the surrounding mountains from our balcony.

This is the view from the back of the complex where we parked the car. The trees were home to a bunch of monkeys who made a huge mess of the trash every day.

Taken from the balcony, this is the inside of the apartment. Bedrooms are on the left.
