Not really a cat

Thanks to blog reader, Greg D, for correcting me on the spelling of "civet cat". Civet cats are nocturnal and we see them stealthily walking the powerlines, fenceposts or ridgepoles late at night. I usually just catch the tail as it goes by and haven't had the opportunity to see a face yet. They aren't really from the cat family - actually they are more similiar to a mongoose. But when they fight, their screams sound exactly like a couple of tomcats duking it out in an alley somewhere.
