Ticket

Yes, this is a parking ticket written completely in Bahasa Malay! I actually got this ticket on Saturday, September 9, while at Midlands Mall taking some girls for a shopping trip. Here's the deal - the underground parking is difficult to navigate on the busy days like Saturday with a 15 passenger van that does not have powering steering. So I use the side street at Midlands. I have always pulled over to the right hand side of the street and parked, along with several other vehicles, on the wrong side of the street facing the wrong direction. (Remember, we drive on the left hand side here.)

Anyway, we were late getting back to the van and I thought this ticket was because our meter was overtime. When I took it to the office to have someone translate it for me, they said I had parked on the wrong side of the street. I said that in Canada its the correct side and that several other cars had done the same thing but didn't have a ticket -what's with that?? The place to pay parking fines is downtown and I haven't been there before. So Amy at the office told me to give it to Raj to take care of but Raj was away, then I was off, then Raj was away again. It was due on September 16 but I didn't even connect with Raj til the 20th!! When I did talk to him, I said I could go myself to pay the fine but Raj, who is so gracious, just took the ticket and said he'd take care of it for me so I didn't need to worry. He's awesome!

I haven't been to Midlands since but now I know I'll have to turn the van around before parking on the street. Oh so much to learn :)
