The one that got away

More excitement on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Lucy, the monitor lizard, decided to take a walk right up to the door of our apartment. Kaleb was walking by the door and saw Lucy through the screen. He yelled for us to come, which sent Lucy scrambling for cover, that and the rush of six kids pounding down the steps. Lucy took refuge under the sports closet and Tim made it his personal mission to get her out of there and off our porch.

Along with Naomi, Monay, Annie, Abbie and Kaleb (I stood up high on the steps with the camera - it was Kodak moment!), Tim tried several ways to get her out into the open. He even used the snake pole that has a noose on the end of it. He managed to get it around her neck but couldn't tighten it fast enough and she got loose before he could pull her out. Finally Tim rocked the sports closet off its legs and we were all ready for her to come shooting out past us. But she fooled us all by escaping through a hole in the wall under the house that became exposed when the closet moved. Tim then crawled under the house looking for her - she had backed herself into a corner and was constantly flicking her tongue at him. He decided she was frightened enough for one day and let her be.

I had laundry to do tonight and was on the watch for her since she's usually in the drain out back. But there was no sign of her - she's probably exhausted from all the excitement and sleeping somewhere else tonight.

what excitement! Thank you for taking pictures so we could enjoy it too.

Sorry about the ants - we have dealt with them in vacation homes - no fun! And it is hard to get ahead of them. Keeping things clean is the best way to keep them from coming in.
