We're in Hong Kong

After about 26 hours of traveling, we are sitting in the airport at HK awaiting out next leg of flights. We have met two other couples heading to Dalat - both were on our flight from Vancouver, one coming from Orland, FL, via NY and the other coming from Dallas, TX via NY!! And I thought our journey was looonng! These poor people have been travelling since yesterday morning and with the huge storm in NY, they spent a few hours on the taramack last night waiting out the rain. Because of that storm, the flight was delayed a few hours so we slept on the benches in the Vancouver airport. We all sustained kinks in our necks from that experience!! :)

Apparently, the HK airport was named the world's best airport in 2005. It is really beautiful and the view we are looking at is of the mountains. We can see a gondola going up and down, not sure to what attraction.

We are all a bit sluggish at this point but doing fairly well considering all. We are getting a wee bit hungry for lunch but are going to have to find something cheaper than the restaurants on this level. We all need to go for a brisk walk to get some exercise before sitting again for another 5 hours. We are all desperate for a good, hot shower but that will have to wait til we arrive in Penang since the traveler's lounge, where the showers are located, costs $250 AM for 2 hours.

The 12 hour plane ride was OK. Lots of food was served and it was kept very dark in the whole cabin so everyone could sleep. We all got about three hours of sleep off and on. A couple of babies cried for a good portion of the flight but we were all so tired it really didn't make a difference. We had pillows and blankets and movies to watch.

I'll check in again when we get to Penang. Love to all!
