I sing the verse of that Willy Nelson song all the time when we are travelling. We are definitely on the road again - 10 1/2 hours in the van today. Presently we are in a Country Inn and Suites just outside of Minneapolis. The desk clerk at the hotel told us not to bother leaving any time before 9 am in the morning due to rush hour. Thankfully we are going to the north side of Chicago which is only about eight hours away.
So we handed over the keys to our house early Friday morning. After all the cleaning I did, the new owners began ripping wallpaper off the stairway and making a huge mess!! Oh well, it's not mine to worry about anymore :)
The kids had good times with friends on Friday night and even at the pool party although the weather was awful. Thankfully the water was warm so they stayed in the pool most of the time while the rest of us landlubbers froze! It was difficult to say good bye to their friends. I was OK until Jordan's mom started crying, hugging and kissing Kaleb's face. I think we all lost it then. I guess the dreary weather was in keeping with our spirits that day.
Our van is packed - for our training conference we need sleeping bags, pillows and stuff like that. Plus I'm hauling a 100+ year old rocking chair to my friend Cheryl's house in Ontario. It came with our cabin but has been in their family for so long I couldn't keep it. Cheryl wanted it and since we are passing by her house on our way to NY, I said we'd bring it along. What are friends for!
After being stuck in the van all day, we went swimming tonight in the hotel pool. That felt so good to use some muscles! I can't believe how stiff you can get just sitting all day. I wanted so badly to get out and run for a while. The guys obviously had a lot of pent up testosterone - the "punch buggy" game turned out into full scale beating and wrestling. It's a guy thing, I know, but I don't get it......
Well, that's it for now. Kaleb needs to talk with his friends on MSN so I'll sign off for now. I hope to connect again Tuesday or so.
