Tim works shifts and so he only gets 3 weekends off out of 8. This was one of them. And it was a great weekend. We all went mini golfing on Friday night with the youth group (our friend Lana beat us!). Saturday morning we slept in and after breakfast, Tim and I went for a brisk walk. We did some chores and then headed to the city for haircuts, groceries and church. We ended up at friends' house after church for nachos and good conversation.
Sunday we drove to Moose Jaw for church. As national project coordinator for Alliance Women's Ministries, I create a video each year on a need on a missions field. This year's video focuses on Niger - where life expectancy is 42, out of 1000 babies about 250 never see their 5th birthday, 3.2 million people are starving due to a famine. Our hope is to raise money for a mobile health clinic to travel around the dusty desert, bringing antiboitics and treatments that would be helpful to many.
So the MJ Church, under the direction of my friend Julia, put together a great service completely on this project. Julia spoke over a wireless phone with one of the workers in Niger, there were two great dramas, the video was shown (Annie stars in this video so she was excited to see herself on the screen!), songs were sung and international food was served. It was an awesome morning. Thanks to Julia and her crew for putting together such a meaningful service promoting such a worthwhile project.
